Olympic flame in Berlin |
In
July 1936 the Gestapo organised a round-up of asocials from the streets of
Berlin and copies of the anti-Semitic Der Sturmer newspaper were withdrawn from
display in the city. Anti-Jewish notices were removed from the city in an attempt
to lower public displays of anti-semitism in preparation for the Olympics in
August.
